MADONNA—BEING NO. 1 NEVER GETS OLD & NEVER DOES SHE
Here at Beato’s Blog we just cannot (and should not) overlook pop icon Madonna’s most recent accomplishment. With her recent historical Billboard charting (Ghosttown) Madonna now holds the most all time number one dance club hits (45) on the Billboard chart. “Thanks to all my fans on and off the dancefloor,” Madonna said. “I’ll (always) be your partner.” With her 45th number one dance club song Madonna edges out Beyonce and Rihanna. Indeed, Madam pop has more number one hits than both performers combined. (They have 22 between them).
Ghosttown is found on Madonna’s 13th studio album, Rebel Heart, which itself launched at number one on the March 28 Top Album Sales chart. Various remixes from Don Diablo, Mindskap and Armand Van Helden, among others, helped the track top Dance Club Songs. Madonna wrote Ghosttown with Evan Bogart, Sean Douglas and Jason Evigan and its theme, she says, “is about the city after Armageddon. The burnt-out city, the crumbling buildings, the smoke that’s still lingering after the fire. There’s only a few people left. How do we pick up the pieces and go on from here? Kind of dramatic.”
To fully understand the scope of this remarkable achievement, here are the songs beginning with the double-sided single Holiday/Lucky Star which reached the top the week of Sept. 24, 1983.

This is one of those moments in entertainment when you simply let the scene play out without commentary. You know, like after a team has dramatically won a world championship and the announcer simply lets the moment breathe. The event speaks for itself. Here, Madonna’s accomplishment really speaks for itself. Regardless of your views of her antics, opinions, or appearance, her musical accomplishments are legendary and beyond dispute. For this Material Girl who is always in Vogue she never gets Hung Up and Nothing Fails. Good job girl.
