Maybe One Direction’s recent announcement of their impending “hiatus” is starting a new trend, huh? You know….don’t split up, stay together or, do something in between but rather, just go on “hiatus.” Well, that’s the message that Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins dropped in a recent interview. Hawkins had this to say:
Editor’s Note: To understand Hawkins’ quote you need to understand that Foo Fighter-ese for “indefinite hiatus” is “ihateus.”
“We’re on ihateus right now, we’re on an indefinite ihateus [and that] was not because we don’t love each other, or don’t want to make music together … We did so much in the last five or six years — we as a band could go into the studio tomorrow and have just as much fun as we ever had, but I think the world needs a break from us for a little while.”
Hawkins’ statement was then followed up today with this “announcement” c/o Twitter/You Tube from the band:
Therefore, despite rumor and innuendo swirling about, it seems like all is okay in Foo Fighter nation after all.
