“I’ve been imitated so well I’ve heard people copy my mistakes. ”
September 18, 1970. That’s a sad day in music history as it was on that day that Jimi Hendrix–the legendary shredder and one of a kind guitar master–passed away. Hendrix was only 27 when he died. Had he still been alive today Hendrix would have been 73 and he would have turned 74 on November 27.
What can we say that hasn’t been said before about this legend? Hendrix was a profound guitar player, writer, performer, and speaker. His quotes are legendary. And who can forget Hendrix’ epic performance at Woodstock?
From his playing style to his stagewear, from Are You Experienced to Electric Ladyland, our generation has not seen a guitar virtuoso like Hendrix since his passing and probably never will. Hendrix came out at a time when rock n’ roll was forming and make no mistake about it; Hendrix substantially help shape our musical heritage. His influence is still very apparent today. Indeed, he was to guitar what Michael Jackson was to singing and dancing. . . . .simply the best.
So, on September 18, 2015, we are honoring Jimi Hendrix on the 45th anniversary of his death. Jimi, your music is still is as electric today as when we first heard it.
