Malik Safe For Now

Former 1D member Zayn Malik will remain, for now, with Syco Music, according to the British music label founded by Simon Cowell.  Earlier in the week reports were indicating that Malik might be jettisoned from the Sony label.  In fact, a spokesperson for the label stated that “Zayn is still with Syco.”

It has certainly been an eventful year for Malik following his departure from One Direction and more recently, his spat and apparent fallout with Naughty Boy.  At least Malik still has a label to call home.

Duran Duran To Release New Album

Duran Duran, the epic English pop/rock band, is slated to release a new album entitled Paper Gods with the record being due out on September 11.  DD is still led by 56-year-old frontman Simon Le Bon who is still in full flamboyant mode.  Joining Le Bon the record are drummer Roger Taylor, 55; keyboardist Nick Rhodes, 53; and, bassist John Taylor, 55.  Co-producing on the album is Mark Ronson (a/k/a Uptown Funk/Bruno Mars collaborator/Amy Winehouse producer) who had this to say about the band: “They’ve always been so interested in pushing the envelope,  We think of [their hits] as bubbly pop tunes, but they were the first to use drum and vocal samplers.”  Also assisting on the new record are Nile Rodgers, Janelle Monae, John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and even actress Lindsay Lohan, who provides a spoken-word interlude on a track called Danceophobia.
