Every year musicians gather in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, for an event known as “Patiopalooza.” The event, hosted and organized by local performer Mike Dalton, features members of various bands that regularly appear at a popular shore venue known as “The Patio Bar.” Each year since the event has been taking place proceeds from the night have been donated to a worthy charity but this year the effort and intent have outdone one another as 2018’s Patiopalooza’s proceeds are for the benefit of Mary’s Place By The Sea and in the memory of Jersey Shore musician Nick Massaro.
Editor’s Note: We had previously written about the plight and courageous battle that musician Nick Massaro waged against cancer and you can read that blog here.
I salute Mike Dalton and all the participants at this year’s Patiopalooza for furthering a more than noble cause and as some of you know I have a special place in my heart for Mary’s Place By The Sea as they provided relief for a dear friend who was suffering from breast cancer prior to her passing earlier this year. In fact, I was honored to have been given the opportunity to have dedicated a very special bass drum head that I used to Mary’s Place and for that I am grateful. Additionally, I think that remembering and honoring Nick Massaro is not only the noble thing to do but it is also the right thing to do. Nick is truly missed and his passing should stand as a lesson to us all to appreciate and cherish every day.
Thus, for those of our readers who are on the East Coast and in the New York/New Jersey area I would recommend that you try and make an effort to catch this special show which will take place on September 12 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. It is guaranteed to be a special night as it is filled with all heart.
