“As you get older, the questions come down to about two or three. How long? And what do I do with the time I’ve got left?”
David Bowie has announced that he is never touring again. It’s been over 10 years since the artist took to the stage, but according to a representative the legendary pop artist has officially retired from touring. The source for this news is John Giddings who recently spoke at the International Festival Forum in London. According to Giddings Bowie has proclaimed that he is not touring anymore and Gidding said Bowie has “decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again.” Bowie’s last tour was 2004’s A Reality Tour.
Despite the choice to retire the live performance, Bowie is still very much creating in that he wrote the theme song for the forthcoming TV show The Last Panthers, entitled Blackstar, while his Off Broadway musical Lazarus opens in December.
Editor’s Note: The Last Panthers is a British crime drama television series created by Jack Thorne and directed by Johan Renck. It is scheduled to air in November of this year and The Last Panthers is based on real events inspired by the notorious Balkan jewel thieves. Check out Bowie’s work in this video:
